An update from our President:
I want to bring everyone up to date on the progress of construction of the Violet Crown Trail and the Deer Park Trailhead.
Yesterday I toured the site with Butch Smith, Trail Project Manager.
After two short weeks, a lot of progress has been made. As always, before starting, the trees were protected against damage and erosion controls were installed to prevent harm to environment. The retention pond has had its permanent fence installed. Drainage improvements have also been put in place. Forms have been constructed for the footbridge over one of the ravines and for signage at the entry to the Deer Park Trailhead on Davis Lane. Today they are scheduled to pour concrete for the bridge abutments. A flatbed truck full of stone for the trail was delivered this morning.
After many years the trail is finally becoming a reality. I will send out additional status updates as construction progresses.
